Chinese New Year 2025

Celebrations of the Chinese New Year started on January 28, 2025. This year, the festivities commonly known as the Spring Festival, will continue until February 16.

A few words about the Chinese (Lunisolar) New Year Traditions:

— Lion Pendant: In the Chinese culture, lion is a symbol bringing luck and repelling evil spirits. Lion-shaped pendants are often used as jewelry symbolizing protection from negative emotions.

— “Fu” Character: During the New year festivities, they quite often decorate houses with the character 福 (FU – happiness). Sometimes they even hang it upside down, because that is believed to expedite the coming of happiness, prosperity and luck.

— Red Envelopes: Red envelopes are one of the most favorite attributes of the Chinese New Year. Elder family members give them to children, wishing them health and success. These days, web-envelopes are quite popular too.

We would like to use this opportunity to offer congratulations to our students from China, their parents and families and all those who celebrate the Lunisolar New Year. We wish you prosperity and realization of all your wishes!
