Academy Hosts International Women’s Day Galas (March 6-7, 2024)
On March 6th and 7th, the Academy hosted the traditional International Women’s Day galas at its theater. Each show dedicated to the arrival of Spring had two parts presenting foreign students from different years and courses mastering their craft at the Academy. Stage performances are an important part of the students’ curriculum.
The students performed the following classical and folk-dance numbers:
• Alikhan Akmatov (Kyrgyzstan; 5th year; class of S. Orekhov) – variation of Frantz from the Coppélia;
• Rina Suzuki (Japan; 2nd year; class of S. Tigleva) – Tatar Dance with a Bow from the Little Humpbacked Horse;
• Leung Ching Lam (China; 2nd year; class of A. Antonicheva) – variation from the Grand Pas Classique; variation from the Pharaoh's Daughter;
• Tomo Ikemoto (Japan; 2nd year; class of A. Antonicheva) – variation from the Paquita;
• Hollyn Henderson (USA; 3rd year; class of I. Pyatkina) – Gaucho; pas de deux from the Flames of Paris.
We would like to offer special praise to Mayuko Fujii (Japan; 2nd year; class of L. Ermakova) for the excellent performance of the important part of Princess Aurora in the Four Fiancés of Princess Aurora adagio from the Sleeping Beauty.
Congratulations, students! Well done!
