Snake Year — Poster at BBA Dormitory

Residents of the Bolshoi Ballet Academy dormitory yet again please us with their creative potential. A few days ago, together with the staff of the dormitory, they made a poster dedicated to the Chinese New Year. The poster is currently on display at the lobby of the dormitory.

The poster is dedicated to the Green Snake Year officially coming to the People’s Republic of China on January 29. It features the symbols of New Year (also known as the Spring Festival) – red lanterns, which are believed to provide protection from evil and malice, as well as duilian, or door scrolls.

Decorating doors and walls of houses with pairs of duilian scrolls is an important tradition of the Lunisolar New Year tradition. The lines say: “Happiness grows from year to year, whereas positive energy fills up everything around us. People are wonderful, like Spring warmed up by mild warm wind. May the New Year bring luck and prosperity”.

The poster is a result of creative collaboration of students from Russia and China. At present, the Academy is the home of 19 students from the People’s Republic of China.
