Trunk and Arms in Classical Ballet — Online Lecture

On January 12, 2025, the Bolshoi Ballet Academy conducted an online lecture dedicated to proper posture and motions of trunk and arms in classical dance. The lecture was conducted for teachers from foreign ballet education institutions.

Special attention was paid to the importance of proper use of trunk and arms in ballet education of 1at, 2nd and 3rd year students. In the Russian school of ballet, arms and trunk are important tools of artistic expression, and their features are power, softness, width and smoothness of motions. All those features are the heritage of the Italian and French ballet schools.

3rd year student girls assisted Ekaterina Trunina, teacher of the Classical Dance Department, with the demonstration of techniques and motions.
